Commonwealth Games Venue
The second largest sports amusement of the world, The Commonwealth Games is going to take place in New Delhi in 2010. For this occasion, Eleven main venues of the city are to host the Games.Many of the games venues will be new built. Existing stadiums are also upgraded to meet the international standards.
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, third largest stadium of India, was constructed on the to host Asian Games in 1982. It is owned by Prime Olympic Association. The opening and closing ceremony of commonwealth games will be held here. Besides Opening and Closing ceremony the stadium is going to host athletics, lawn bowls and weightlifting events. The stadium has capacity of 75000 spectators. It is the best ground in India having artificial tracks and floodlights facility.
Indira Gandhi Stadium
Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium of Delhi is situated in the Indraprastha Estate, Eastern Delhi. It is spread over an area of 102 acres. The stadium has been divided two equal parts by a soundproof and fireproof synthetics wall. It has sitting capacity for 2500 people. For Commonwealth Games, the stadium is going to be used as Cycling, Gymnastics and Wrestling events.
Dhyan Chand National Stadium
Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium isLocated near India Gate, It is a large Field Hockey stadium having capacity of 25000 spectators. Men's and Women's Field Hockey events of the Commonwealth Games are to be played here. It is decorated with contemporary facility like artificial surface and electronics score board.
Siri Fort Sports Complex
A full fully air-conditioned innovative stadium is being constructed with four courts. The stadium will host squash and badminton for 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Talkatora Indoor Stadium
Talkatora Indoor Stadium is located on Willington Cresent Road. This stadium is to hold Boxing competitions for the coming Commonwealth Games. The stadium has boxing ring, as well as separate warm-up areas with total capacity of 3500 spectators.
Thyagraja Sports Complex
The versatile air-conditioned indoor stadium is being constructed to host netball event for 2010 Commonwealth Games. There are two seats for 4494 spectators, main courts, separate warm-up areas, proper lightening facility and electronics scoreboard are especially constructed keeping the requirements of Commonwealth Games in mind.
Yamuna Sports Complex
The completely air-conditioned indoor stadium is being built to host Table Tennis and Archery Preliminaries for 2010 Commonwealth Games. Two main courts with electronics scoreboards having sitting arrangement for 5000 person are constructed.
Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range
Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range is to host shooting competition and Full Bore for 2010 Commonwealth Games. There are different shooting ranges and ammunition storage facility in this stadium.
Delhi University Sports Complex
This outdoor sport complex is being renovated to host Rugby 7's in the Commonwealth Games 2010. after completion it will hold 10000 spectators.
R.K. Khanna Tennis complex
This complex will be used for Tennis event in the Commonwealth Games 2010. It has suitable ground and sitting facilities for 6000 spectators.
Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Swimming Complex
Dr. S.P. Mukherjee Swimming Stadium is to be used for Aquatics swimming and diving events in Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010. There are facilities of 3 temperature controlled main pools, and seats to hold 5000 spectators.
