The Commonwealth Games 2010 Sports
The 19TH edition of the Commonwealth Games will feature 17 sports. Following the firm deal of the Indian Olympic Association, the planners included Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby 7s, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling to the games list. However because of lack of good site for swimming stage, triathlon is excluded from the program.
Delhi CWG 2010 Sports
As per the guidelines drawn by the Commonwealth Games Federation India included all the foundation sports like athletics, aquatics, lawn bowls, netball and rugby 7s which are compulsory in nature. In addition to these core games, India also included a few approved sports like archery, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, shooting, squash, table tennis, tennis, weightlifting, and wrestling.
The sport list of The Commonwealth Games has some men only and women only events. The men-only events are boxing, rugby 7's and wrestling while netball and rhythmic gymnastics are women specific. Hockey, Rugby 7's and Netball are team sports. At present there are 4 sports for Elite Athletes with a Disability (EAD) which include Athletics, Swimming, Table tennis and Power-lifting.
