Mental relief for Commonwealth Games volunteers

The Commonwealth Games that will take place in Delhi in coming October aims to employ about 30,000 volunteers from common people like students, corporate gaffers etc.

For commonwealth games, not all the preparation has reached to estimated goal where only 230 days are left. Construction in the city is continuing but no hope to complete. Roads, flyovers stadiums are on the way of construction and renovation and many of them are far from completion.

Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday released the Ecological Code for Commonwealth Games 2010 in order to reduce carbon emissions during the event, keeping stress on clean fuel, water management and waste management.

Delhi has already public vehicles which run on CNG (clean fuels). It is to mention that Delhi has large amount of greenery than other cities of its class.

For a green city, coal based power plants will be closed. CM said that they are also looking for hybrid vehicles to cut down the use of petrol and diesel. Delhi is also focusing on salvation of large amount of waste produced during the event.

Security on Commonwealth Games

After Pune blast, Lt Governor of Delhi Tejindra Khanna has said that sufficient security will be put in the city on the event of Commonwealth Games from October 3 to 14. Khanna is looking after the security aspect of the Games. He assured that fail-safe security measures will be put in place ahead of the event.

He said that all the possible measures has been taken by security agencies to ensure sufficient safety during the event. More than 1,00,000 people will come to the city on the occasion of Commonwealth games.

70% of Accommodation Ready

Out of 10,540 rooms which are required on the coming of Commonwealth Games, 7,300 has been completed with is about 70% of the total requirement.

Several hotels in Haryana are in receipt of their completion certificates and are to be inaugurated soon.
