The churches and convents of Goa are UNESCO recognized world heritage site. Goa is the earlier capital of Portuguese occupied India. In world heritage site at Goa Churches and Convents, the Church of Bom Jesus, which contains the tomb of St. Xavier Francis- illustrate the evangelization of Asia. These monuments were influential in spreading forms of Manueline, Mannerist and decorative fine art in all the places of Asia where Christian missions were established.

The Church of Bom Jesus Goa with its frontage shows the use of the Classical order. The Church of St. Cajetan is modeled on the unique design of St. Peter's Church, Rome. The Se' Cathedral Goa was commenced as a small place of worship built of sludge and husk in the management of Alfonso Albuquerque. It is an instance of Renaissance. The main place of worship is huge and decorated with printed pillars. The imagery of Senhora d'Esperanca, crucified Christ and St. Catherine is great in same.

The pictures in the churches of Goa were finished on wood margins and set between boards having flowery designs as in the worship place, accommodating the burial place of St. Xavier, the curve on top of the altars in the transept of the Se' Cathedral and in the nave on either side of the main altar in the Church of St. Francis Goa.

Bom Jesus Goa is believed to be one of the most impressive Churches in Asia, huge and splendid with knick-knacks suitable to its magnitude. It is made of black granite. The ceiling is greatly decorated. Sarcophagus of memorable Portuguese who were linked with the spiritual living of Goa is extremely attractive. Its elevated and wide altar is dedicated to the form of infant Jesus.
