Thar, The Great Indian Desert
Thar desert of Rajasthan is also known as the Great Indian Desert. Thar Desert is holds the area of Western India and South Eastern Pakistan. The Thar Desert is divided into three major landforms - Sandy area, Plains and Hills. The Great Indian Desert spreads crossways Rajasthan and some parts of Gujarat. Thar Desert wraps about 259,000sq km.
However, the deft people of Rajasthan have transformed this sandy scrubland into the most colorful desert in the world. Rajasthan is most popular tourist hub of India.
Luni River that joins Arabian Sea through the rann of Kutch, is the only river in this sandy area of Thar. Remains of millions of years old Dinosaurs are found in the desert.
